I have argued and argued facts and logic with the Trump fans here on FR and got nowhere. Their venom towards Cruz is insatiable.
Trying to think of a “magic bullet” type of argument, the only thing that I can come up with is:
Supreme Court picks. For all the reasons they think Trump is going to do great things, destroy the establishment, build the wall, make great trade deals, create jobs and wealth, etc., etc. what good will all that be if he appoints just one bad Supreme Court justice? Is it all worth it to risk throwing a liberal majority on our uber masters in black robes? I just don’t get it.
Mind you, there is no reason to expect him to govern as a conservative in any other respect either, but you can gloss over a lot of policy minutiae, but the one Supreme Court pick is the single most crucial factor determining the whole future of the country. Remember, Trump is the guy who thinks the definition of “conservative” is someone who conserves wealth. Good luck with that.
There’s no reason to believe that Cruz will be anything more than another pansy establishment R if we use your logic and reverse it.
Ultimately, it comes down to A: Who do you trust more to follow through, and B: Who will have the strength to make it happen?
And those are not a matter of facts and logic; those are ultimately a matter of opinion and your personal most important voting topic.
