Odessa supposedly super violent?
Odessa Texas had the following homicide totals:

I think that last year was about 7 IIRC.
Flint, Michigan has about 110,000 versus Odessa’s 130,000.
Flint has 50-—70 Killings per year. Odessa had half as many killings in the last five years than Flint has in one year.
Odessa had 24 killings from 2011—14.
Flint had 191 killings from 2011—14.
That’s one reason I prefer to use murder rates instead of violent crime rates. It seems to me like it’s the most apples-to-apples crime stat across jurisdictions.
