I've seen some positive comments about Detroit on FR..
Don't hold your breath. There are many, many areas of Detroit where being white will get you killed, especially the western end.
There were days that I thanked God as I passed 8 mile northbound out of Detroit.

As I stated, I have no firsthand knowledge of the situation, but I know what a partial recovery looks like as opposed to urban Hell. Some sections of Jersey City are much safer than they had been in the past, but the same can’t be said of neighboring Newark NJ.
