Frankly it’s a good summation of what many of us read hear from them.
That only godly people support Cruz. Or that is you take your faith seriously “there is only one choice”. Or that people that value the constitution will no doubt choose Cruz.
We Conservatives tend to confuse the candidate with the supporters. It is natural that we like our candidate to be the best possible on the issues, and in his personal character.
But why should we expect anything of voters for that candidate. If someone likes our candidate due to the way he combs his hair, or smiles or hugs his dog, why should we object. If someone likes our candidate because he hates the opponent, why should be care?
Example:
100% Republican Liberty Caucus chat room supported the most conservative libertarian small government candidate for governor who was also pro-life, no exceptions.
One libertarian couple posted that they were pro-choice but supported the pro-life candidate anyway because they agreed with him on every other issue, especially anti-corruption.
Then campaign chair for the conservative Senate candidate posted in total seriousness that nobody could support the conservative candidate for governor unless they were 100% pro-life, no exceptions.
That is why we lose. We win with coalitions.
