Few people will talk about this, and fewer will even want to acknowledge it, but what Donald Trump did before the debate even began shows the measure of a real man's worth.
Trump and Carson
At the beginning of the ABC debate, each of the candidates were being introduced in a specific order. The first name called to the stage was Chris Christie. The applause was loud and lingered through the time when Martha Raddatz called the second candidate Ben Carson.
Dr. Carson did not hear his name called (easy to understand why when you listen to the video) and stood in the entry-way. The moderators, with their backs to the candidates, didn't notice his absence and called the third name on the list, Ted Cruz.
Ted walked past Dr. Carson and onto the stage. Carson remained in the awkward, and embarrassing position, 'no-mans-land', on-camera but out of sight of the live audience.
What happened next shows the remarkable character of Donald Trump.
The fourth name called was Donald Trump, but by then the back-stage crew and candidates were aware of Dr. Carsons' position. Trump slowly approached, and then realized the embarrassing position of a fellow candidate hanging in the wind.
Trump showed his leadership by standing right next to his friend, and not walking onto the stage.
The other names continued to be called, and proceeded as mentioned. But not Donald Trump, he remained with his colleague thereby reducing the internal anxiety felt by Carson.
It would have been very easy for Trump to walk by Ben, just like all the other candidates did. But instead he chose to wait, and remove the embarrassment factor by infinite magnitudes.
Then, like a boss, when Dr. Carson was called to the stage, Trump waited and allowed Ben to get the audience response and appreciation. It takes a lot of courage to make split second decisions like this, and it shows a remarkable insight into the man's character.
Why reasonable people throw in 100% behind any of these candidates and condone or justify everything they do or say is beyond me. Then again, we no longer live in reasonable times.
Trump showed he a classy guy there. It was very interesting....almost showing that he new he was competing with little kids and had to help them.
The bigger deal- Bush knew what was happening, and didn’t have the courage of presence of mind to join Trump and Carson, have a quick discussion with them, and walk with them together. Nope, pat Trump on the shoulder and, “Sucks to be you!”
And people were watching all over TV Land and took note!
it was a very telling moment!
He heard it....
“Unfortunately I didnât see it, I forgot it was Saturday night and was watching a stupid movie...you can call me a dummy...”
Republican Presidential Debate In New Hampshire [2016]

I had the same reaction. Trump’s a strong, decent, and kind man who can think on his feet. Jeb and Cruz in particular looked like asshats.
The parallels to 1980 are amazing. The nation is mired in mediocre leadership (from both parties) and along comes a real leader who is marginalized and ridiculed because he does not fit the traditional profile of a presidential candidate.
Yes, they really made fun of Reagan for co-starring in B-movies with a chimpanzee (and the chimp upstaged him!). His supporters were mostly uneducated rubes and if he managed to get us elected, why he would bumble us into World War 3 for sure.
While he was considered the frontrunner almost from the day he entered the race, he was "humbled" in Iowa by a close second place finish and until he won in NH by a wide margin, his candidacy was considered to be on the ropes.
But they did warm up to him in the end. We'll see if it plays out the same way here.
Im a bit surprised even though I shouldn’t be at some of the comments here. Not taking a count it looks like most viewers saw Trump in a good light during the awkward moment. Haters are going to hate no matter what. If anyone looked like a complete douche it had to be Jeb. I can honestly say he is the only one I would stay home on election day if he was nominated.
You mean after he puts him down?
Yeah, nice of him to help a sociopath sexual predator like candidate. Donald is all heart. ( nothing says classy like calling someone a sociopath )
thats cause he has non specific urethritis
When I saw it, I figured Trump insisted on saving the final walkout position for himself (though I think Kasich stole that anyway). But I suppose it can be equally spun this way.
But two opposite conclusions.
I’m just waiting to see how long it takes before this poster corrects the slanderous remark.
I’m waiting for the video, which I am sure he/she has.
Something tells me I shouldn’t hold my breath because they are lying.
Yes, you're correct. Though you're a Cruz supporter, you didn't feel the need to come on the thread and snark.
You know, if this thread was about Ted Cruz, I wouldn't have felt the need to snark, either.
I will GLADLY take the cudgels to the snarkers, though. :)
Seems that the Bush famiky used ED to build and athletic stadium in Texas. Tweets have been spread all morning. May even be a thread.
I didn’t notice any kindness. I noticed that Trump, like Carson, didn’t hear his name being called over the applause for the previous person’s entrance. I also noticed that classy Trump used the words sh*t & fu*k in NH townhalls; not only that, but their were many young children present.
Yeah, what's up with that?
Why did Ted Cruz say those nasty things about Ben Carson?
