Property rights are extremely important to me and like any power enumerated in the Constitution, the government should be limited and these amendments by judicial fiat erode and undermine those limitations leaving citizens with no recourse and the well connected like Trump can fancy a parking lot for limousines. To me, he has demonstrated perfectly the establishment mentality and I was insulted when he said that it was just that no one bothered to explain Kelo to conservatives as if we’re clueless about the decision.
The courts have long since held that public use is the furtherance of the public interest. Atlantic City has been in poor governance for some time. They didn't allow for sufficient parking. If the sole tax base were casinos, then the public interest was in expanding parking. Buying up older homes with fair compensation is legal and completely within precedent.
