My personal opinion, it was to give cover to another candidate... Congress has no authority to grant natural born citizenship.

I respect that opinion, but like your case and mine, should the fact that you have American parents but by luck or draw those parents have business or military obligations that result in disqualifying you from becoming POTUS?

I really don't think that is what the Founder's intended.

It was more to prevent a true foreigner from seizing power.

Au contraire. The constitution specifically gives congress the right to define natural born citizenship.
