During an interruption from a person Donald Trump described as a "Bernie plant," another audience member shouted out: "Immigrants are the backbone of this country."
"No," Trump responded. "I don't think so, darling. They're not the backbone. I'll tell you what... Let me just tell you something. You know the backbone of our country? People that came to this country legally and they worked their ass off and made this country great."

“Wait! Whut? If you believe the islamist in the white hut is a Christian, no wonder your use of the perjorative “bible-thumper” comes easy to you.”
Maybe I have a different definition of Bible Thumper, my point is this, anyone who is going to put their religion above my country will not have my vote.
I don’t want a president wringing his hands over WWJD when we need to bomb the shit out great swaths of land in the middle east. I don’t want a president charging the soldiers who are over there doing dirty work with war crimes when they get back. I don’t want a president who cares a damn about Guantanemo, or who gives a crud about how someones who wants to kill me might get their feelings hurt.
I am sick of politicians who want to open our borders because it’s the “Christian Thing” to do. Yeah, I’m evil that way, and I could not be a conservative because of that.
If you want to be religious? Fine, but when you put your religion above America, you can kiss my ass, and you can’t be my president.
I think Iowa ruins it for many of you republicans, because you all come out waving bibles around and spouting scripture to win an insignificant state, but it leaves that Jimmy Swaggart taste in the mouths of the rest of us.
I think Trump got advised he needed to spout some scripture, because from what I read, he screwed up. Well, that would be ME. I would be advised “these people want a religious nut, better read this....”, and I’d screw it up.
Now, I’m not atheist, nor are my friends, most of us are vets, and we believe in God. OUR God. The God we made peace with long ago, and we don’t need anyone telling us what our God thinks. We believe in family, OUR family, not the family from Mexico. We belive that America is the greatest nation on earth, and if you work hard, you can get here... BY THE RULES.
I am sorry but once people become politicans they start to hide behind WWJD when it comes to defending and protecting this nation and it’s people.
I don’t want a religious nut from ANY religion, Romney looked like he should be on a TV show asking for money, Hucklebee? You’ve got to be kidding me. Clinton? Hated him and his phoney bible. Santorim? Not on my watch. But this is NOT anti-Christian, I don’t want a Jew who is going to put the Torah above this nation or an Islam who is going to put Islam above this nation.
America first, you keep your God to yourself. A bible thumper in my mind is someone who is always trying to tell you how much closer to God they are than you, how they are always right, how the “good book” says this or that, and how you better come around to their way of thinking... and fast, because they know what’s right and what’s not.
Yes, I see Obama that way. He could be a Muslim, but he’s got this idea that he knows what’s right and wrong for my soul, and if I don’t fall in line, I should be ashamed.
“Btw, welcome to FR.”
Thanks, I did NOT expect anyone to thank me for posting on this site. I expected the exact opposite.
“Welcome, and I pretty much agree with all your sentiments and experiences.”
Thank you for the welcome, it means a lot.
Again, thank you for the welcome, I was fully ready for a full frontal assault as a response to my thoughts.
Welcome aboard. Thank you for the voice of sanity. :)
I am about where you are. Lawyer politicians are trained liars. And the Bible thumpers could care less about the Constitution... And some of these bible thumpers support the mass invasion of Obama’s illegals.
Trump has been to me an education in how the business world works. Not one of the candidates who need big donors can be honest about who they are. All their words sound like they came from the same speechwriter.
Republicans since Reagan with a couple of exceptions have done nothing to stop the destruction of the middle class. I am not nearly as angry at Obama as I am with the likes of Boehner and Ryan. Obama told his intentions right up front and the republicans wrote out his checks.
So true. Preach it Don.
I appreciate the welcome, I did NOT expect to be considered sane on this website, I wasn’t even sure if I would be allowed to post. Thank you.
I think you will get along just fine here.
No way are immigrants the backbone of the country at this time. Overall, they are a liability, entitled persons. Many refuse to learn the language and are here only for the free stuff. Increasingly, they and their children hate this country. Many of the so-called home grown terrorist are nothing more than second generation immigrants from Somalia and other non-Western countries.
This guy is definitely likable.
Thank you for the welcome Justmythoughts.
“Not one of the candidates who need big donors can be honest about who they are.”
And this is the rub isn’t it. Their colors only come out after they are elected.
I am a registered dem because I have to be. My union ensures that I will get the crappiest workers on job site (IF they even send any), I will NOT get certain contracts, or I will get my chain jerked every chance I get if I don’t buy the “insurance policy” which is to be a registered dem and play their game.
Now, this is not to say this doesn’t happen with Republicans, it does, but the majority of my work comes from Chicago and Cook Co. Illinois. In the suburbs of Chicago, I run into the exact same thing with the Republican mayors, or Village Trustees, or whatever.
It is different names, the same game. They all want money. I used to get hopeful that finally “a new so and so” was elected. But after all my years of doing this, I realize it’s all the same, only the names change. Even the faces start to look the same, they wear the same suits, drive the same cars, live in the same looking homes, and even have the same haircut and handshake.
With either party I have to support all of their causes as well (it varies from party to party, but almost all white town leaders force me to give to United Way, and that is a cesspool of corruption all it’s own). Black town leaders always want me to support a cause that happens to be run by a relative. I guess I’m a racist to notice that, good thing no one knows my real name, because that is the kiss of death around here.
I found this site and others after trying to find more information on Trump on the internet. I am amazed and I’m going to be insulting here I guess, that on both sides, the same rhetoric is still working. The dem sites spout that they need YOUR money to battle the evil republicans because they are going to cut off social security and medicare and the repubs want YOUR money because they will end abortion.
I tell you as I told another website, you are being played fools, these politicians don’t give a crap about either issue, they want your money, and if there is profit in it for them, they will keep the issues going for another 5 centuries.
BTW, I had to think back, in my original post I said I hadn’t voted since Reagan, that’s not true, I did vote for the first Bush, but swore off repubs again after “Read My Lips No New Taxes” I knew we were back to politics as usual, and I said I would never vote again, but then Perot came along and I voted for him.
That was my last vote. This year, I may vote again if Trump wins the nomination, otherwise, why bother. Like I said, they are all the same, horses of a different color.
I would have never even got involved with posting on political websites or bulletin boards or whatever this is, but we have a socialist actually running and he has a chance to win the presidency, where has this country gone? I’m almost 70 years old, what the hell US of A are my grandkids going to live in? This is nuts. How far we have fallen.
If it weren't for Trump the other Repub weenies would be singing “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” as they carefully avoided the issue on their way to doing NOTHING!
Thank you for the welcome.
I thought you were dead.
Snicker! :-)
Welcome aboard.
You’ll fit right in around here.
Thanks for your real world perspective. It was educational.
He was just waiting for Gold to spike again. :^)
hahaha that made me laugh, not sure if derogatory or not, but it made chuckle :)
