What a whole lot of conservative religious people seem to miss, is that socialism is a case of taking what ought to have been happening in the households of God (and this applies both to Christian and Jewish) ... and endeavoring to do it as Caesar.

A Caesar-church mix has been called for by God in exactly one place — the original Holy Land. And that was under a special holy covenant.

Of COURSE it is going to end up being tragedy. It is idolization of Caesar. The giving which is supposed to be “cheerful” (at least per New Testament, though even Old Testament norms suggest it be done gladly) becomes a cynical game of grudges and corruption.

But anyhow, in hating the perversion, we should embrace a proper reverence for the original thing. Otherwise we only have a system of hate, and that invariably falls off balance.

So instead of being dependent on the State, they should be dependent on us?

No. Marx was fomenting “class struggles” that simply were not in existence, that is until he made people believe that they were.

It is more like what Benjamin Franklin observed:
I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it.

I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer. ...
And that is what the USA was all about—that is, until the Marxists came along to seduce the poor into being more poor. People came to the USA to escape the dying feudalism, which merely got reconstituted by the Fabians and Marxists into the state atheism form rather than the church-state form.

That's actually an amazingly preceptive observation there, HTRN!

The same thought came to me just about an hour ago, while responding to a FaceBook "friend" who had shared some nonsense about about some comedian mocking Republicans by dressing up as Jesus and regurgitating Republic sound-bites.

In short: The question "What would Jesus do?" is simply not applicable to the political realm (e.g., in regards to capital punishment, confiscatory taxation, etc.).

Regards,
