In the announcement speech for his presidential campaign, Donald Trump railed against Obamacare. "We have a disaster called the big lie: Obamacare," Trump declared. "I would repeal and replace the big lie, Obamacare."
Well, that sounds like something a Republican candidate would say. But there is one problem: Trump helped finance the Democratic takeover of Congress in 2006 - which put in place the liberal majority that passed Obamacare over the objections of congressional Republicans. And he continued to support a Democratic Senate majority after Obamacare...

Yep, and that is what primaries are for, to weed out the bad candidates before it’s too late.
I beg to differ. The Republicans Who Helped Obama Ruin the Country Support Marco Rubio.
“Youâre just mad because your precious Donald is all twittered up about getting his hind parts handed to him in the first real test of his media created image of invincibility.”
Not at all. For me, Cruz has become what Bush and Rubio have been all along, namely untrustworthy and dishonest. I wished that I felt I could trust Ted, but I can’t. I’m just not going to support someone I regard as dishonest just because they hold similar political views. BTW, if you look at the FR Caucus, Trump has had, and continues to enjoy a 2 to 1 advantage with your fellow Freepers. New Hampshire will be a real test.
Trump loves him some Nancy Pelosi, he’ll even tell you how great she is and that he’ll be able to make deals with her.
Has any deal with Pelosi ever advanced conservatism or moved the ball to the right?
Has any deal with Pelosi been in the best interests of America?
Is a deal with Pelosi morally right based on her support of abortion?
No, he didn’t. He wasn’t in Congress. Just what happened to this place?
The Freerepublic I left years ago featured posters who were more educated than this about politics.
Anyone who would try and suggest Cruz is responsible for Obamacare is no friend to conservatism.
How can a private Citizen pass Obamacare
But Cruz's Vote did pass TPP which is now Law
How many here gave money to the Democrats? Anyone?
Donald finances and supports Democrats. It’s Republicans he has a problem with, unless they are, like him, malleable on conservatism.
Dems had super majority in both houses so repub couldn’t have stopped it even if they had wanted to.
Interesting counterbalance to Trump’s ridiculous claim re Cruz & 0bamacare...
“spineless republicans gave us obamacare....... Passed without a vote in the Senate”
Apparently you aren’t aware of the number of congressional and Senate seats held by democrats prior to the 2010 elections. Go back and look at those numbers, then explain to us how the Republicans could have stopped it. It had nothing to do with “spinelessness.” It had everything to do with the fact the dems held super-majorities in both houses.
Circular firing squad all around because we're too stupid to have Freedom and Liberty as outlined in the Constitution....
Senators Obama and Biden voted against confirming Roberts. I believe to my core that Roberts voted to uphold obamacare to avoid any appearance of vindictiveness. Virtually no one saw it coming. The man is an abject coward.
Trump DID NOT help pass obamacare, he could not have, because it NEVER PASSED! The house DID NOT vote on the final version, big tuna pelosi knew she did not have the votes to pass the AMENDED bill that the senate sent back to her, so she DEEMED it passed instead of having the house vote on it.
This AMENDED bill that came out of the SENATE is wrong on 2 accounts at least. Number one, as said, the house never voted on it and number two, all new spending bills are required to originate in THE HOUSE OF REPS.
It looks as if bribery is now OK around here. Welcome to FR 2.0!
Ted Kennedy died, Scott Walker won his seat...... the Democrats didn’t have the votes in the senate..... they “deemed” it passed and the Republicans in the senate did nothing to stop it..... maybe they couldn’t have stopped it, but they didn’t even fight
So tell me how, with only 40 members in the Senate, the Repubs would’ve been able to stop it.
*41
I believe Scott Brown was # 41......... there was never a vote
“I believe Scott Brown was # 41......... there was never a vote”
. . . and he just endorsed Trump.
