Trump won't rule out Cruz as VP pick
Politico ^

In a striking reversal of rhetoric, Donald Trump would not rule out Ted Cruz as his hypothetical vice-presidential pick.

"Well, I don"t know. Look, I have nothing against him. It was sort of a sad thing that happened, but I'"ve always liked him," Trump told Hugh Hewitt on his radio show Thursday, after weeks of trashing his primary rival as nasty, hypocritical and disliked.

Trump added that he has "always gotten along well" with Cruz, but that "I'm so much now focused on New Hampshire."

We have a different outlook on things which is fine.

I know you believe that Cruz can do things, but what has he done in the Senate? I mean sheesh I know he shut down the Congress to get ACA stopped, but it didn’t stop. He is so hated in the Congress that McConnell will probably say that the priority is to make Cruz a 1-term president.

Trump is so good at negotiating that he can get everything done and not from the Democratic side but the Republican side.

Well have to wait and see. We won’t solve all the problems tonight nor even the next 4 months.

Trump is not only a schizophrenic liberal con artist, he is exhausting.

And what are his bad qualities?

A congress of mostly founders settled it 200 years ago.

(I’ve only taken one of those issues - my wife is calling that supper is ready!)

Actually, Trump talks about cutting spending fairly often. My worry is whether he can get Congress to go along. Even Reagan could not sustain domestic spending cuts. I remember all too well the “budget(s) announced as DOA by the Dems in Congress”.

Have a good evening! :-)

Broke record. Be a leader for goodness sake. Don’t just come back to me on what I said to you. You are so weak. You must be 90.

There are a few basic things that need to be understood here.

When speaking in front of a group, it is critical to “Know your Audience”.

As a result it’s not unusual for someone to alter their message from time to time.

When Trump speaks it is always to a National audience and is covered by the media as such. This is not the case for Cruz.

Do you think the folks in N.H. don’t know that Cruz is an Evangelical Christian?

Some things are better left unsaid at different times. However, Trump needs to and is running as a “populist” and trying to be everything for everybody.

So who is being the opportunist?

Originally the term was Natural Born Subjects and required two subject citizens. When we became a Republic it was changed to Natural Born Citizen. This makes the whole concept devolve into dubiousness. One, our population as a whole knows NOTHING about the constitution and two most of them don’t care. So removing a president over such a technicality as only having ONE citizen parent would be painted as unfair or an absurdity.

It is interesting that this is the only office requiring a Natural Born Citizen. Congress - any kind of citizen would do.

The intention of the Founders was to ensure undivided allegiance to the country. I have no doubt that Cruz and Rubio have no such divided allegiance.

He would lose my vote if he did that. Cruz is bad news. Very bad news.
I would see this as a sell-out by Trump & that his ethics are fungible.

Kind of like Cruz and his heavy Bible-thumping in Iowa and not much mention of his Bible while campaigning of NH.

In fact, when has he mentioned the Bible while in NH...?

Ted Cruz isn't backing off 'God talk,' even in New Hampshire

I think that as President Cruz can persuade the Senate to elect a new Majority Leader. Here are three suggestions: Mike Lee, Jeff Sessions, and Ben Sasse.

Remember, the President is the titular head of the Party, and swings a heavy club. I’d like to see Cruz elected with a major mandate for change, like a 45 state majority that sweeps in a bunch more Republicans. That will give him additional leverage over Congress.

I know that seems a distant and improbable outcome, but once the inter-party battles are over, I think we can unify and win big. I just don’t see that happening with Trump. He has the highest negatives of any presidential candidate in US history.

No, only the states or a convention of the states can pass an amendment. Don’t expect an argument from me about the damn courts. Congress can initiate one, though.

They’d better team up, or the GOP will get Rubio...and President Hillary Clinton, who will destroy Rick Lazio #2.
