The Cruz team is the smartest team in the room, right? Why were they the only cabal to get it so wrong? Why not call Ben? It’s not like they didn’t have his number, and get confirmation?
The only words that matter in any campaign are the words of the contender himself, saying that “I am suspending my campaign.” It is the only legal requirement for all campaigns.
Phrases such as saying, To go home, to take leave, to not go here, or there does not “suspend”.
Who doesn’t know that? Even I know that.
Cruz perhaps didn’t know what was going on, but an hour and seventeen minutes later, the campaign operatives were still saying it and even embellishing the Cnn report. Cruz probably HAD to know by then. Carson had already clarified by then.
Why would they ask Carson? This was leaked info. It wasn’t anything Carson would’ve gone public with. He sure wouldn’t have admitted it to Cruz before announcing it in public. Carson would’ve wanted to keep this quiet even if it was true. It’s a rumor that got out of control for sure, but that’s just human nature at work. No one’s to blame for it.
