Gross negligence and carelessness that they heard reports that never said Carson was quitting and assumed that he was quitting, and then began spreading false information to caucus sites.

I’m certain that this is the first time that the Cruz campaign had ever bothered to advertise the travel schedule of Ben Carson or any other rival.
They knew that Carson’s statement was ambiguous and that’s why they ran with it. Why spoil a good thing by checking with Carson?
What they aren’t doing is owning up to it.
If you look at the tweets involved, they checked with Carson’s staff. They were told he was going to Florida. Since the CNN report was what equated that to quitting, Cruz apologized for his staff member(s) making the wrong conclusion. Carson did better than he was polling; did this really hurt him?
It was a CNN report.
