Bush was not acquainted with Roberts until Cruz so yeah. Roberts and Cruz have been friends for years.
Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have fought as hard against Obamacare as an patriots I know. This is a low blow coming from Trump. If Trump had used this kind of anger against the democrats he might have won Iowa. He knows the country is angry and he thinks it's angry at Cruz.
Cruz actually wanted his old boss, Michael Luttig to get the job. He supported Roberts once the selection was made. And to be fair, at the time most thought Roberts was a good choice based on his record on the DC Circuit.
Unfortunately, like so many others Roberts appears to have “grown” on the court.
From everything we could dig up on Roberts he was a considered a conservative. We pushed for him to be chosen under those assumptions. GOP did not vote for 0’care one of the few times they held firm as RINOS, Moderates, and Conservatives.
If Cruz was one of the voices that convinced GWB that Roberts was a fine, solid conservative, obedient to the Constitution, then I agree with Trump 100%. Not once, but TWICE did this knucklehead Roberts approve the Obamacare shenanigans.
And I would like to remind everyone of something Roberts managed to spit out during his confirmation hearing. (and no, I’m not going to look it up for you. Google is your friend. I work nights, and I’ve been sick with a cold for days. I need sleep.)
He said that under his tenure he will NOT entertain any cases that will overturn Roe vs. Wade. Look it up.

Totally false. But it will probably be a matter of minutes before the Orange One - a supporter of government health care - announces he will sue Cruz over it.
In the beginning Trump sounded like the end of our troubles were at hand. Yet, the more he talks, the more supporters are bailing out. The guy seems completely unhinged, he brags that Scott Brown would be a great VP and that he could deal with Pelosi, Reed, Schumer et al. should make us all think about this guy.
He is going to screw everyone over.

Trump is 100% correct. Cruz aggressively advocated for Roberts to Bush, yet now says he was a mistake.
People listen to Cruz on judges with his academic and judicial background. Cruz was negligent with his responsibility.
They don’t listen to Trump on judges.
They listen to Trump on trade and immigration.

He’s doing that to cut lying Ted off at the knees. For the past week lying Ted has been telling anyone that’ll listen that Trump wants to expand ObamaCare, is pro-abortion, and is soft on illegals and wants to grant amnesty to all of them. He has also said that Trump is having a “melt-down” because he GUARANTEED that he would win Iowa, which is another flat-out lie. Trump never led in Iowa up to a couple weeks ago and never GUARANTEED he would win. The melt-down is coming from lying Ted because he knows he’s about to get his bell rung in NH.
