They weren’t. Rubio’s campaign staffers were telling voters the same thing the Cruz camp was.

Everyone around here (FR, that is) understands that CNN (and similar outlets) are unreliable, and routinely color their reporting to fit their agenda.

You would think that Cruz and his people would know that too, and would want to get verification of a rumor like that directly from the Carson campaign.

But they didn't because they WANTED the rumor to be true.
