Thanks again.

How many voters does it take to grow a bushel of corn?

How many other voters does it take to pay him for what he grows when it is not needed.

I hope somebody thinks this out to the end.

I hate paying Jim Beam for juice to get my car to the grocery store and to church.

From what I read a few years ago ethanol made from sugar cane is cheaper and has less h2o than ethanol made from corn squeezins.

We can import it from Brazil far cheaper than we can grow and produce it here from corn.
IIRC the corn and sugar groups both lobbied against the importing of the cheaper Brazilian sugar cane product.

Having grown up on a farm and farmed most of my life, I am absolutely against all subsidies and gooberment mandates concerning farm products.
Let the market decide says me.

A politician with principles, who does not believe in government subsidies, very refreshing.

FR THREAD: Trump's cash crunch

"Count me in with those who suspect that Donald Trump is no billionaire, but merely a poseur who may never have recovered from his many big-deal failures, as AT and others have already noted. Ted Cruz is finally bringing this idea up, but it's a testimony to just how opaque Trump has made his finances that only recently has anyone outside the financial press even discussed the matter.".........

There is no government impediment to importing fuel ethanol to meet the RFS. There is no government impediment to making fuel ethanol from something other than corn.

The USA is a net exporter of fuel ethanol.

Sounds like Cruz prefers on fuel dollars go to the middle east than American farmers. Doesn’t sound like a true American to me. Sick.

“There is nobody in the state of Iowa that knows more about ethanol than Dave Vander Griend. Dave has estimated that lifting the EPA blend wall could result in ethanol increasing its market share by 60 percent.”

Yeah I know. It’s tough when they bury it more than two sentences into an article.

heh heh

Dave is the deal maker. His brother Denny is the fuel ethanol production savant, but like a lot of savants, he is, shall we say, quirky.

It was several years ago I got the information and my memory is kind of spotty.
I really can’t remember what brought the subject up at the time.

Maybe the subsidies and mandates were intended to price US corn ethanol below Brazilian sugar cane.

One of the problems with fuel ethanol is that there simply can’t be enough production to replace a majority of oil-based fuel. That’s as true in Brazil as it is in the US.

Ted Cruz’s opposition to subsidizing ethanol in Iowa truly shows how principled he is. VERY impressive.

As of now, I’m for Trump, but the fact that Cruz was able to pull this off, is very impressive.

I think one ethanol backer admitted that it would take every acre of arable land in the US to be used for ethanol crops to truly make a dent in the volume of oil used.

I just want my good old 100% Petroleum based gasoline back.
Other than eating or feeding to livestock the best use for corn is the production of illicit, untaxed alcoholic beverages.
