I heard the announcement on 77wabc (before the caucus)and I thought gee, why is he quitting now. That was very much the impression I had.
My husband said Carson did this on purpose, I don’t particularly agree with him on that but it’s another opinion, why not.
no candidate in the history of the world quit a race 5 minutes before his people got to vote in the first primary or caucus.. The Cruz people knew he wasn’t quitting.. and all it would have taken is a 30 second cell phone call to either Carson or his CM to verify it... and because they didn’t do that that means it was all on purpose..
they knew Carson wasn’t quitting that’s the exact reason they never made the 30 second call to Carson or his team to verify it.. pretty simple
they couldn’t care less about Carson and his campaign who put their life and soul into this thing for over a year or Carson’s voters who stayed with him through all of that
That’s a very interesting take your husband had.
The whole thing does seem weird.
Never considered your husband’s idea that Carson did it on purpose, but the idea intrigues me. Although I’ve been puzzling over what Carson’s up to for some time — that’s like the third announced hiatus. None of them actually came to much — the book tour supposedly wasn’t a complete hiatus, and he was only out a couple of days after his supporter’s car wreck — but at the same time I really get the feeling Carson’s eye is not on the ball.
Why would Carson do it on purpose, though? What’s he trying to accomplish? His hypocrisy in trying to hold Cruz accountable for a supporter’s acts while refusing to be responsible for the report put out by his own people was a major turn off.
