The clarification came out quickly. The Cruz camp ignored it and went with the scam. That is why Cruz apologized. They did what they did.
And that's the important part.
Cruz did apologize.
There is no textual evidence that the Cruz campaign “ignored it”
Here is what CNN writes:
“Cruz Iowa staffer Spence Rogers also suggested in an email to precinct captains that Carson may be announcing the end of his campaign next week.”
That is absolutely reasonable speculation and SHOULD be said to caucus voters. The lack of seriousness is quite evident— especially in the ongoing effort to spin this as something other than Carson’s missteps.
There is textual evidence that multiple campaigns reported the relevant fact that Carson planned to go home to Florida and not go to NH or SC.
That is relevant and should be reported.
The effort to pretend that Cruz was doing something malicious is dishonest.
The careful effort of the Carson campaign to implicate Cruz as unchristian while giving a pass to the direct slander issued from Trump against Carson is absurd.
Carson signaled disinterest in the campaign in iowa and NH and Sc. That is relevant and should have been presented to Caucus voters.
I think it is unethical to suggest otherwise.
