There is a literal army of Feds, cops and sheriffs who’s financial livelihood depends on illegal drugs. Why would they ever want to win the WOD?

Win it, or at least shut off most of the supply, and then put 'em to work at equal pay defeating the WOOJ (War On Our Jobs). For the most part, the risks in the latter are lower, and many of the tasks are parallel (interdiction, detective work, etc.)
Way too cynical. They've got plenty else to do, and would probably appreciate a long respite from the drug wars, so they can go chase murderers, smugglers, bat****-crazy assassins and terrorists, counterfeiters, carjackers, and .... well, you get the idea.
The list is very, very long, of things that LEO's could profitably occupy their time with, if they didn't have to chase Mexican and Colombian couriers and American pushers and junkies any more.
