The ‘rumor’ did originate with CRuz staffers. They twisted the truth (hey, maybe Ted’s Twister Board came in to play!) and turned it into a nasty rumor/LIE.

Could be that Ted’s Twister board is what his staffers use when they’re trying to come up with their next tricky tactic.

So then how did other campaigns watch the CNN report and come to the exact same conclusion about Carson dropping out, and take the exact same course of action?

Your analysis does not align with the facts as known. The only person who overstepped the CNN tweet is the individual that “confirmed” that Carson was dropping out.
