Why are so many here in favor of voting for Trump first, before even giving Cruz, our staunchest conservative, a chance to succeed or fail on his own? I don't get that.

My opinion is that there are a lot of varied reasons and I can list a few even though I am a Cruz voter in the primary.

1.) The President (as my brother put it) now needs someone with great big balls -- someone to really reverse field and push back against the entrenched leftist media victories. Trump by his original comments when he declared showed he had the brass.

2.) Cruz has the baggage of a total outsider with only Sessions and Lee of his Senatorial colleagues giving him support.

3.) There are plenty of people that support Trump who think of him as just a rich businessman. They don't have detailed experience with he or his type.

4.) When a conservative gets frustrated after years and years of defeat, he has the veneer of reason that can hide a reactionary and that veneer is not very thick in some cases. That type of person hears Trump and believes him and in believing buys the whole kit-and-kabootle.

Now. let's be clear, a reasonably sounding equivalent list can be written about Cruz. Those wanting to reply with such should understand that most of us have already read them and don't make up our mind by Internet harangues

I agree with your responses, though with slight differences: Regarding “great big balls”, Trump has them, but Cruz certainly does too, given his conservative stances against the establishment. Nobody has stood firmer in Congress. Regarding the baggage of Cruz’ being an outsider, I look at that as a plus. I want the Dims and the Rino’s stopped, not agreed with, so for me gridlock is totally acceptable. I'm divided on the merits of Trump being a businessman. Some I've known are honorable, and some are scoundrels. I don't know enough about his past to say which category he most falls into. Regarding Trump's supporters buying the whole kit-and-kabootle, if so, I suspect there may be a breaking point if he tack's too far left (as I feel he is starting to do in the primary, e.g. health-care). Thanks for your response.
