The Center for Disease Control says that more than 3 million US women are at risk of exposing their developing baby to alcohol in a new study released yesterday. The CDC recommends women that are not on birth control stop drinking alcohol so they don't accidentally expose their child to alcohol.

It is a serious problem but the answer is not birth control. It is about education and self control.
Unfortunately, I have known several FAS children. In the early ‘70s they were just figuring it out. I’ll never forget a friend of mine who was pregnant and little prude that I was I told her she shouldn’t drink while she was pregnant. OMG! She hated me after that.
So anyway, he was born with FAS and he had a tragic, sad and short life.
I also know someone who was going to have an abortion because she had been drinking heavily for some time when she found out she was pregnant and we convinced her not to and promised to help if there were problems and thankfully there were none.
I had sips throughout all three of my pregnancies. In fact, number three was a surprise and I was drinking through Christmas and New Years because I didn’t know I was pregnant. They’re all fine. My oldest is on the very high functioning end of the Autism spectrum, but I’m confident it isn’t from the two or three ounces of Sam Adams I sipped one day!
But not drinking has made you a blubbering curmudgeon.
Not sure if that’s a good trade-off.
“blubbering curmudgeon.”
From where did that come? ;-)
Okay, lovable curmudgeon. :-)
“Okay, lovable curmudgeon. :-)”
I have always felt that personal attacks have always said more about the attacker than the attackee! ;-)
