I think sore loser laws keep him off the ballot in a lot of states, like Texas. That’s a huge handicap for a non-Democrat candidate.

Correct.

Texas has a “Sore Loser” primary law. Here’s how it works:

In order to be on the Ballot for the March 1st primary, you must file by Dec 14, 2015.

If you are an independent candidate for the Nov, 2016 General, you must also file by Dec 14, 2015.

Sore Loser Laws apply mostly to state races, etc not Presidential races.
Sore loser laws apply to presidential candidates in only two states: South Dakota
and Texas. But such a run would be a negative, imo.

I did some research on the sore loser(man) laws, but I saw some info that it generally didn’t affect the President/VP race. I haven’t been able to follow up on that, but we have enough resources here to figure that out.
