Yesterday, Trump ripped into Cruz for supposedly lying about Ben Carson's decision to leave Iowa early, as well as the Cruz campaign mailer telling Iowans whether they had voted in previous elections. He then added, "No, it's honestly really, really dishonest. And I think I know why. You know why? Because he was born in Canada...He gets the nomination, they're going to sue his ass off."

Let's go through these bizarre, inane assertions one-by-one...

Still, I would emphasize that this mess on FR has left me pretty sad. I have been a FReeper for about 20 years. In the 1990s most FReepers seemed pretty sharp. Even the highly contentious religion threads (usually) had more-or-less thoughtful folks on both sides of a given controversy.
But today's FR Trumpsters alarm me.
I love how the Cruz supporters support a less than honest candidate. Any cheating by Cruz is fair in their book. GO TRUMP GO
Cruz only makes honest mistakes. /s
Oliver North did something very similar. I grinned when I learned of it, while simultaneously watching the democrats (and republican moderates) try to nail him to the wall.
And who do we want in power? People with the right positions. Right?
My point (again) is that you are manifestly blinded by your allegiance to a bizarre guy who makes vicious accusations against decent, thoroughly conservative opponents over and over and over. Shapiro's article unmasks Trump, Red.
Don't be too proud--or proud at all--of the fact that you won't read the article (or can't read the article with an open mind). Don't be proud of backing a low-life just because he has styled himself a winner. Cruz and even Rubio would do better against Hillary. And Cruz definitely would be able to correct problems that I frankly fear that a crony capitalist like Trump would not even touch.
Well, Cruz had the unmitigated gall to finish ahead of Trump. Just who does he think he is?
Rand is right — Trump is as orange as Boner.
I fear your use of the bold italic.
Cruz likely won his only state, by cheating. Face it, he inflated the balls.
As Pogo once said, "We have met the enemy and it is us."
Cruz is perfect /s.
Trump screams and lies about Cruz to take the focus off his loss (and subsequent, typical statements) in Iowa.
He’s punishing Cruz and the American people.
The man is dangerous.
bttt
Un huh..
We know Cruz supporter Rep. Steve King lied in his tweet about Carson
We know the Cruz campaign high command forwarded the lie to all its precinct captains with instructions to convince Carson caucus goers that Carson was quitting.
We know the Cruz precinct captains got up and told their caucus that Carson was quitting, including at a caucus attended by Carson’s wife.
This was no honest mistake...it was a premeditated series of actions all designed to rob Carson of votes.
You ain’t wrong about that.
Really? Because when I look at the RealClearPolitics consolidation of all the polls, I only see Cruz leading in 10 polls; all between 3 December and 18 January; and none by more than 10 points. In that same time period, 8 polls indicated Trump was ahead and he moved into the lead after 18 January, where he lead in 13 polls in a row.
No matter what you want to believe, this is a massive defeat for Trump.
To quote someone: You're entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts.
Chicanery has been part of political campaigns since - well, forever.
Calls for recounts, or even revotes, are only one symptom of this “fever” that overtakes the also-rans, or the person taking second place especially. Being a good sport about it is not their strong suit. There is also a desire to place quick blame on just about everything except their own failures.
The Donald simply did not run a very good ground game in Iowa, where Ted Cruz ran a practically textbook version of the way it is supposed to be done. It perhaps had little or nothing to do with the absence of The Donald from the most recent Republican “debate” (actually an attempt to paint a target on The Donald, something that he did not need), but may have been more about paying attention to detail.
People with the right positions are in power now. Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, etc. all campaigned on the “right positions”. Ted Cruz campaigned on the “right positions”. Ted Cruz went to the Senate and made a point that the others lied about their “right positions”. Nothing changed. Nothing will change until there is a total disruption of the status quo.
There is only one candidate running who can do that, and that is Donald Trump. Maybe he won’t be able to do anything, but we now know that electing Ted Cruz will put the Chertoff Group back at the head of the government trough, as a minimum.
And the net result of the two top candidates bashing each other will be a Rubio win as nominee, altho’ not a win as President. We all need to quit bashing the two top candidates, whomever they eventually are. The goal is to WIN the Presidency for a Republican.
