Cruz could defuse this by publicly regretting it and promising to keep better tabs on the situation.
However if he does what he did with the shame letters and doubles down, he will cut again into his support. He might have enough NOW to beat Trump, but he shouldn’t count his chickens before they are hatched.

You mean enough now to beat Trump in Iowa if he uses dirty trix, right? Because I don't see cruz with enough support to even come in second anywhere else in the country. Or am I missing something?
