Going into the Iowa caucuses, there were some questions that no one was able to answer with any confidence. Would Donald Trump's voters show up when it counts? Was Ted Cruz's on-the-ground field operation as good as advertised? Was Marco Rubio closing strong and earning some of his media hype? Would someone please wake Ben Carson?
Everything is quite a bit clearer now.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz won the hotly contested Iowa Republican caucus on Monday night, fending off a tough challenge from Donald Trump and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
With 99% of precincts in, Cruz led with 28% of the vote versus 24% for Trump, 23% for Rubio, and 9% for fourth-place Dr. Ben Carson.
There's no shortage of chatter this morning about the results, but letâs try to cut through the noise and break things down from a pitch-vs-hype-vs-truth perspective...

Like the Carson scam, sure...real class there.
I find it so strange that the son of the preacher man is the only GOP candidate that the Iowa Sec of State reprimanded in writing for shaming letters and now he has to apologize to Dr. Ben Carson for dirty trix. No other GOP candidate just Cruz. It speaks to character sadly.
Here’s my analysis.... besides the fact he beat the pompus windbag...... Cruz has been ridiculed for his speech last night. It was long, had his parents there and talked about God and family etc etc. You know... it’s probably the exact speech a guy gives after being called a nasty, mean ole little guy who everyone hates.
Proof positive that if you cloak yourself in piety then you can get away with anything, absolutely anything. Can you imagine if Trump had sent out an illegal mailer and ran a scam on Ben Carson voters? There would have been screaming for Trump to withdraw from the race, from the media, from the democrats and from the Cruz camp.
So true. If Trump had done the shaming letters everyone would be calling for him to leave the race.
