But GOPe Jeb was magnificent with his super pac spending 59million to get 6th place and 1 delegate!
While I acknowledge that is the case, the historic trend that I observe is to use the early states to narrow the field quickly. Not sure if that trend will remain true during this year’s primary. I can see a scenario where the early proportional states create an ongoing three way tie with the winner take all and/or hybrid states consolidating around one candidate. It would then be possible for that one candidate to have enough going into the convention to win the nomination. This is more of what I see historically,.
It is also equally possible to have a three way split that is close enough that no one candidate gets the nomination automatically. I fear this scenario as this would allow the GOPe to come in and rig the system during the convention.
Yep, and remember to point out the same next week when Trump wins NH
And to think it was sitting there staring them in the face the whole time!
A caucus is mired by group-think and intimidation tactics. They are hardly “one man, one vote” that is protected by *absolute* privacy.
Oh, I believe the field will be narrowed by the middle of March - I think we will be down to Trump, Cruz and Rubio. I just think there are not enough winner-take-all states to determine a winner before the convention.
Trump people must have a huge hangover. Only a few showing up to make bitter accusations against Ted.
Suddenly, Iowa is no big deal. Iowa matters so little they shouldn’t even bother.
Look, I should be nicer but those people are both obsessed and mean.
So you think Ted would do this to get Carson’s two votes?
It is frankly amazing to me how quickly you people started running around saying Iowa didn’t mean anything.
You are so right. Fox is so blatantly pro Rubio now that I can’t watch them.
Nasty to the bitter end.
You people are the poll worshippers so what about all the polls showing Ted Cruz doing much better against Hillary than Trump?
That’s why Trump has taken to grumble about his YUGE loss in Iowa on twitter. And as per usual, he is blaming the people of Iowa for not giving him credit for self-funding!
You mean like people have been saying for years?
Only an idiot, that has no knowledge of election history, thinks that it does.
“Suddenly, Iowa is no big deal. Iowa matters so little they shouldnât even bother.”
Ok, so go ahead and explain to us why it does all of a sudden.
List us all of the notable winners in Iowa that went on to win the nomination, and then the general election.
Go on.
Yep, you watch, when the convention rolls around, the power structure will determine that neither Cruz nor Rubio are constitutionally eligible, and award their delegates to Bush. And with his super-delegates, Bush wins. And then loses to Hillary. This contest is between Trump and the Bush establishment elites, everything else is just noise. So vote for Cruz or Rubio if you want Bush, because that is what you will end up with if Trump does not win decisively in the upcoming primaries.
PS: I cannot help but wonder if there was fraud, given the behavior of McConnell, et al, in the Mississippi and Virginia primaries.
You pays your money and takes your choices.
John McCain skipped Iowa and got the nomination.
Rudy Giulani skipped Iowa and disappeared.
President GW Bush and President Obama won Iowa and two terms as president.
Life is what it is.
I’m betting that Cruz spent far more money in IA than Trump. We know he spent far more time there. The net result is one delegate more than Trump got. But, the win is a major psychological boost for his campaign. Now we will see who does better in NH, and beyond.
Low blow
