I think that Hillary would probably rather run against Cruz than any other Republican, because there's the perception that he's too ideological to attract independent/moderate voters, in the same way that most Republicans would probably prefer to run against Bernie Sanders than against someone like Hillary who can maintain the (false) pretense of being a moderate.
