I am familiar with it. You have many on this site claiming that Ted added poison pill amendments to the bill, and of course all his amendments were defeated.

The bill passed the Senate 68-32, so his attempts certainly had no impact there. It's quite a stretch to claim that he caused the bill to be canned in the House when it was set for a vote when Eric Cantor was defeated in his primary. That's what defeated the bill.

Ted's weak claim is that his rejected amendments were intended to be poison pills. And in many articles he claimed that the path to citizenship Obama insisted up was already a poison pill. So, why did Ted need to do anything?

In one sentence, Cruz would take the path to citizenship out of immigration reform. “n my view, the path to citizenship is the most divisive element of the current bill, Cruz told me. It is designed by the White House to be a poison pill, to cause the bill to be voted down in the House of Representatives.

Until the presidential campaign, Ted claimed that he was trying to amend to bill so that it could be passed, to remove Obama's poison pill which was designed to defeat the bill and keep it as a campaign issue.
