Posted on 02/01/2016 3:07:17 PM PST by markomalley

A search shows that nobody's opened up a live thread for tonight's caucuses. So here goes.

Predictions? For both the GOP and Dem nominations?

Eyewitness Accounts? See any funny business going on?

All the geniuses had Trump and Clinton winning. Never mind the crappy unfavorables or the fact that Cruz beat Trump by 18 in a head to head. If the turnout was >170,000 Trump was a lock. Back to the drawing board. Big losers tonight? The talking blockheads, the pollsters and Ann Selzer of DMR whon once again missed the winner by a large margin.

Yes, screw the bloated Clinton and Trump polls.

A 2 pt win is a win.

True, but it is also about perception. If Trump goes from a 28 point lead to a 2 point win in a week, the perception is going to be that he is falling fast. That would be two elections in a row where he performed much worse than the polls indicated, which would make everyone start to question all of the other polls showing him in the lead.

And since like Iowa, NH is a proportional state, that 2-pt lead will mean an extra 1 delegate over the number two finisher.

I tend to disagree. Listening to all the GOP mess as they destroy each other and say how horrible this one is and that one, I almost feel like not voting for them...ha.

Just don’t see that as winning over any independents, especially the young.

Cruz will take all but a few of Carson’s supporters.

That’ll happen whether or not he drops out.

One of my favorite photos of Cruz and Heidi....they are such an unshakable team together. I can see them as our First Family so very easily......and you can be sure the staff at the Whitehouse will have a treat enjoying this couple.

I think you are putting too much credit into the Iowa Caucus, it does give Cruz the opportunity to live another day on the campaign but it certainly does not put him in control of anything

I am sure Huckabee and Santorum would love to explain this to you

The Bush family is from Connecticut, not New York, but pretty darn close to it

They ran as Texans. The first ran on the coattails of Reagan.

I don' think Trump is going to do anything that would promote abortion

Trump has already said in the past his pro-abortion sister judge should be on the supreme court. You do not know what he stands for or will do, you just hear what you want to and this is exactly what I mean about the flyover country and double speak.

If anything he will be busy cleaning up our trade deals, building the wall, kicking out the illegals and killing off ISIS scum.....

How many positions has he already changed his position on during the campaign? He is a deal maker....an international one. It proves the point I made about trust, Northerners and flyover country.

Did you read the article? Those at caucuses are saying the Cruz people told them Dr. Carson dropped out, one in a speech in front of hundreds.

CNN probably got that from Cruz.

What has been the DEM turnout in previous Iowa caucuses? Tonight’s turnout sees ridiculously low for them, as much as it is ridiculously high for the Republicans ... I suspect some funny business that begins and ends with Rubio and the GOPe ... Of course, I could be wrong.

Agree absolutely. It was nice to hear some of the candidates being gracious towards each other, and it would be nice if it were to last.

Ronald Reagan didn't have the 11th Commandment just because he was a nice guy.

75% of christians historically don’t get out the vote...

we don’t need the independents, we need the Christian right....

if they got out to vote, there never be another democrat elected. ever.

The two previous winners in Iowa won the nomination in '96 and 2000.
