Obama lost the electoral college with Catholics in 2012. He lost the Catholic vote in places like NY, something that probably hasn’t happened since maybe Reagan, if then. He lost the Catholic vote in every swing state. Not one state that went Romney lost the Catholic vote, but many states that went blue lost it. CA Catholics are so numerous and vote dem at such a high frequency that it actually made the dems win the national Catholic vote by a slim margin, 51% or so. Which is still really disgusting and shameful. But the electoral college was something like 201-70 for Romney if the Catholic vote decided it according to the exit polling.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown.

That is encouraging, but not what I experienced here in Pittsburgh. Most of my Catholic neighbors vote reliably Dem. Likely because the Church here had very deep and incestuous roots in the Labor Movement. Ask any Catholic here and most likely they’ll tell you those Democrats “are for Da Workin’ Man!” Despite the fact that they’ve never met an abortion they would not fund.

Now of course there is wailing and gnashing of teeth over the treatment of the Little Sisters. By the very people they elected.
