My “venerable” M16 I carried sometimes in Vietnam was NOT automatic...It was semi-auto and had a three shot burst selector...

I trusted an M14 more than the ‘16....

I thought that the M-16’s ‘3 round burst selector’ configuration was adopted after the Viet Nam War. Am I thinking of some other weapon?

I thought the three round burst was first implemented in the M16A2 in 1983 by the USMC and 1986 by the US Army.
