Winter storm threatens Monday’s commute
A fast-moving weather system that is expected to bring snow and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hourcould make driving conditions hazardous early Monday morning.
Chris Rasmussen, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Tucson, said Sunday the weather front was expected to arrive in Cochise County around 3 a.m. and move through the area dumping accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of snow on elevations above 4,500 feet.
He said a High Winds Warning has been issued for Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca, meaning winds could exceed 30 mph with gusts of more than 60 mph.
So far, we haven’t had bad winds to deal with. At least, not at my place! We’re right at 4,500’, so we got the snow starting at 6:13 AM. You could watch the precip change from rain to snow; our street slopes downhill and the temps dropped accordingly until sunrise.
