A sports doctor for the U.S.C. Gamecocks lives in our building. I asked him if politics was involved in the current concussion controversy (I believe it is, as a part of the ongoing wussification of America).
The doc’s reply was guarded. He seemed to blame the players for regarding their helmets/facemasks as weapons rather than safety equipment, and therefore headbutt far more aggressively than if they were wearing leather helmets & no face masks.
He also noted that 300 pound linebackers are now the exception rather than the rule (Refrigerator Perry?).
Is the concussion kerfuffle the revenge of the soccer loving nerds?
Heh, heh! “Rush! Stick with the issues!!”
But if anyone can expose the politics of concussions, Rush will.
I wonder if dainty Dave has ever watched a game?
Oh yeah, four hours of non-stop soccer or five days of cricket are better, followed by thirteen hours of a no-hitter baseball game.
Yep...he gets full credit
Only if you believe the concussions are being faked somehow. Jeepers.
If they become too brain damaged, at least they can still become writes for The Guardian .
You DO realise Dave Bry is AMERICAN, don’t you?.
Why, its a real man’s sport. Maybe if more ‘Yanks’ watched it, they’d see what a dull pussyfest the NFL is.
Lesser countries. And you wonder why you have a reputation for ignorance and arrogance.
Dave Bry is one of you.
Then again, the rest of your post shows you don’t take much in.
If you think nobody watches rugby, you are truly clueless.
If you think nobody watches cricket, you REALLY are clueless.
No, that’s the 3-4 hr baseball and football. At least a bad soccer game is over in 90m, bad rugby in 80.
Except he aint no furrner.
Bry is one of you. Brooklyn boy.
We need rugby if only to show the NFL how real hardmen play.
True, both sports are English.
Do people here really believe that?. LOL
HS rugby seems to be growing pretty quickly in the midwest USA. It’s not a funded sport so the kids have to bear all the costs. Seems like they get a fair number of football players, it’s played in the spring.
Unfortunately my daughter’s then boyfriend lost an appointment to West Point due to a severe concussion he suffered.
Yep. Gridiron is too wimpy for us.
