So, when Ted’s dad was in the US, prior to going to Canada, you believe he was not a Cuban citizen? If he wasn’t, what country was he a citizen of?

I believe he expatriated himself when he fled Cuba. He would have been a resident alien in the US whether that was true or not. He would have been de facto stateless during that time.
