Re: “After Cruz’s Iowa loss...he will be an after thought.”
Cruz is my reluctant first choice, but I think you may be correct about his political prospects.

The two major political betting websites indicate that Cruz will not do well in the GOP primaries.

And in the general election, bettors at Fairbet.com think Cruz is tied with Socialist Bernie Sanders!

I don’t follow the political betting websites. But I can tell you Cruz won’t win Iowa. The Canadian birth issue killed him.

The Canadian birth issue?

That's a surprise to me. I did not expect that to be politically harmful after 8 years of Obama.

Cruz has also failed politically on the immigration issue, which is my number one issue.

He has used his rhetorical skills to stay one step ahead of the immigration hawks since 1999.

Bottom Line - Cruz is a George W. Bush Republican on immigration. If he had begun to walk that back a few years ago, and apologize, and convincingly show voters that his views had changed, I would have supported him with all my heart.

I'll vote for him, but I have no confidence that he will do more than the bare minimum on immigration if he gets elected.
