Red Alert: Fox Debate’s Gotcha-Video Is Sign of Media Sucker Punches to Come
Breitbart News ^ | 29 Jan 2016 | John Nolte

Posted on 01/29/2016 1:10:26 PM PST by detective

During Thursday night's Republican primary debate, in order to attack and bloody both Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Fox News used selectively-edited video montages of both senators saying stuff. Video is the most powerful propaganda weapon ever conceived, and not only is the use of gotcha-video in a presidential debate highly prejudicial and subjective, a debate setting is not the proper venue for any sort of gotcha question.

Save the cheap gotchas for interviews. Debates are about issues, the differences between the candidates, and the differences with one another that they wish to highlight.

Well, one would think so. However, judging from post after post since the beginning of the week, Trump is a low life for walking away and not participating, but Cruz is a hero for participating in the inquisition. Personally, they should all tell fox and others of that ilk to eff off.

Cruz is not a hero. He, along with the other debate participants, has merely met the minimum qualification for being considered for the position of GOP presidential nominee - showing up for the debate aka job interview. That Trump believes he is too big to need a job interview is certainly his prerogative. Reagan thought so too, until he lost Iowa after skipping that debate despite being a near native son - he was born in neighboring IL, and was a radio personality in Iowa's major cities prior to his move to Hollywood.

Uh no. Moderators should not be sucker punching anyone. They should he as invisible as possible. These so-called debates are devolving into communist show trials.

Likely by seeing the conditions being set for the crisis to occur ahead of time and beating it to the punch and humiliating the architects of said crisis.

But I’m just going from what I witnessed this week.

Uh no. Moderators should not be sucker punching anyone. They should he as invisible as possible. These so-called debates are devolving into communist show trials.

Communist show trials proceed without any testimony from the accused, except for tearful, cowering confessions, typically obtained by a combo of torture and threats to massacre family and friends. Those who don't confess are simply shot without the formality of a show trial.

Debates are nothing like show trials. They are job interviews conducted before a live audience so voters can find out how candidates respond under pressure that's a tiny fraction of what presidents encounter once in office. What we've learned about the Donald is that when under pressure, he'll conduct a wounded veteran's benefit. That makes him qualified perhaps to head up the VA. The White House is a giant leap.

What the nation witnessed this week was that Trump handles debates aka job interviews aka (for him) earth-shaking crises by skipping them in favor of holding veterans' benefits.

These debates don’t contain questions. They contain veiled and not so veiled insults and attacks by hostile interrogators.

Not so long ago, there were people who could honestly claim the title of “journalist”. An honest to goodness, bona fide journalist is not entitled to a public opinion or to attack a candidate. That is the product of generations of deliberately dumbing down and stultifying the general public with emotional slop. Kind of like comparing a Presidential candidate to one’s son. Conditioned, gag worthy clap trap.

Well, Drudge called it a poll, and you used that term in your post.

Regardless of what you want to call it, there’s nothing scientific or accurate about the info Drudge collects. It’s interesting, for sure, but not particularly instructive. Anyone with internet access can vote as often as they want.

Just like the Paulbots did so successfully in past Drudge Polls.

Moderator grand standing has no place in debates.

How can we get rid of Rinse Penus and the whole RNC? It’s useless.

STOP ALREADY.

I’m so tired of winning.

It just doesn’t feel “right,” does it? When, clearly, winning just isn’t fair. That’s why I like Obama. He knows the USA has had too much, and he was prepared to give it away to make things the most equal. How good it is to have someone above all humanity to be the one to divide things up amongst the others, of course taking his off the top?

Do I need this? /s

Agree. Well said. I am so happy someone does the difficult work of trying to divest some election power from the media and their bosses. Cowardice my butt. There are those that would kill for less than what Trump did. Most candidates are bought or too full of fear to question their false authority. Trump is truly risking his life here, but I think he thinks it is worth it. I do think his children and grandchildren are properly, independently protected.

“Why do you think Trump and his globalist pals Murdoch and Ailes set it up this way?”

Read the article. Read other sources and learn what is really going on.

Fox News was planning to sucker punch Trump. They were planning to embarrass him. The rest of the MSM would then pile on and there would be story after story about Trump making a fool of himself and Trump being bested by Megyn Kelly.

Trump, to his credit, refused to play the game.

Fox then went with plan B. Attack and embarrass Cruz. The rest of the media then wrote story after story about how Cruz had performed badly and how Jeb Bush had won the debate.

Unfortunately, Cruz was neither astute enough nor courageous enough to refuse to play the game and got knifed by Fox and the rest of the MSM.

You use the word globalist but you have no idea of what it means.

Trump is against the unrestricted illegal immigration that is part of the globalist agenda.

Trump is opposed to the using of tax payer dollars to import hundreds of thousands of middle eastern Muslim terrorists into the U.S. that is part of the globalist agenda.

Trump is opposed to the one sided trade deals that destroy jobs and businesses in the U.S. and that are part of the globalist agenda.

Trump is opposed to sanctuary cities that are part of the globalist agenda.

Trump is opposed to black lives matter and other anti-American groups that are part of the globalist agenda.

Trump is opposed to the tax and regulatory policies that make U.S. businesses uncompetitive and are part of the globalist agenda.

Trump is opposed to the weak, cowardly and treasonous foreign policy that weakens America and empowers countries like China, North Korea and Iran. In this, Trump opposes the globalist agenda.

He made a very wise decision not to go. He might want to call an end to the GOP debates now.

These media spectacles and gotcha sessions are not debates. They are certainly not job interviews.

These are like target practice where certain candidates are expected to stand at the podium and be exposed to one vicious attack after another while other candidates are given prearranged softball questions.

There is little or no intelligent discussion of substance. There is no discussion of actual governing and problem solving. There is just one gotcha question after another.

Trump was right not to play their game. I wish Cruz had also refused to participate.
