FBI Drone Captures Moment of Lavoy Finicum's Shooting

This is a shortened and edited version of FBI footage showing the joint FBI and Oregon State Police traffic stop and OSP officer-involved shooting of Robert “LaVoy” Finicum on the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

You’ll note that Finicum was shot by an Oregon State Police Trooper at relatively close range as he appeared to be reaching into his coat in a manner consistent with attempting to draw a handgun.

Flash bangs were then deployed in an effort to get the other occupants of the vehicle to surrender.

Check out the guy in the middle of the group of vehicles and tell me he hasn't got a video camera, filming, 25 feet away from Finicum. Complete with audio.

It still looks like to me that he never pulled a gun or reached for a gun, that he was shot and reacting to that.

Considering that one of the troopers came out of the woods does seem to lend credence to the notion that this was an ambush.

Not conclusive he was reaching for a gun (let's see it and the registered SN). Not conclusive that he was not.

Texas Eagle pointed out he may have been reaching for a gunshot wound.

If he'd been shot, maybe he dropped his hand to the gunshot wound.

I thought I read one of the eye witness reports said that he left his gun at the refuge that day. Do we know if he was armed?

If he did get hit thru the windshield that could explain why he exited the vehicle so fast, I would assume (yeah, I know) to draw attention away from the others inside(?)

To me its readily apparent that he was funneled into an ambush. But he should never have took off no matter what they did at the initial stop. Hands up, lay face down. Sad man. The guy had like 11 kids. I can’t tell what happened at the roadblock. I am looking on a cell phone. But I can see that there are shooters coming out of the woods.

My point is that it doesn’t matter how you happen to hit a LEO. The fact that you did gives them the legal option to fire away.

He was fleeing the police before he hit the roadblock, so they were prepared to have a shootout, no matter what.

I don’t know how Finicum ended up being pursued in the first place but if he had made statements about not being taken alive, that’s like challenging them to do it.

It’s a whole big political football that’s being used to cover up for government seizure of private land to be used as collateral for loans we obtained from foreign nations, and it has come to the KILLING FIELDS stage.

It will be interesting to see what progress is made, if any.

Maybe. It is difficult to determine what happened during the shooting. Did he grab for a wound. Did he grab for a gun? I don’t know. But I do know his mistake was made when he was pulled over.

He reached for his side, which could have been reaching for a weapon, or reaching for a gunshot wound.

Conveniently, there's no audio - even though there looks like there was a guy 25 feet away with a video camera.

Yes, there have been a few that threw themselves into their work.

Reminds me of a pack of coonhounds, and just about as bright.
