First of all, a “Green Beret” is a hat. SFC Martland is a special ops soldier, a quiet warrior. Secondly, as a retired Army officer, I’m sorry to say that I’m not surprised.

Trite, Green Beret is a widely used and understood term. Id rather be called a Green Beret than an Operator. I always snicker at this latest trend. My mom was an operator.

That said, he should get a medal. I hope he runs for Congress. Though I wouldn’t wish it on him.

I don’t follow your comment about not being surprised. Are you saying that traditional policy passed down through the ages would have such a soldier kicked out? Or are you saying Obama’s ‘tone’ and policies are of the sort that fine soldiers are kicked out for seemingly reasonable reactions?

I can see at most a reprimand, but kicked out?
