I remember when McConnell called that secret evening time meeting that was alluded to in the press which was passed off as a fund raiser among senators, but we couldnât get much coverage of who attended. Present or not, the check was in the mail.
We know where it went in one case. The Haley Barbour machine grabbed it and managed to strike Chris McDaniels, the conservative and TP candidate who was leading in that race, against the Establishment mule, Thad Cochran.
The rest is history.
You have to really stop and think about the duplicity of Cruz in almost everything he touches. Trying to serve two masters without alienating anyone with the truth of who he is. The 250K contribution was an attempt to gain favor with the establishment and demonstrate he had a grassroots base by helping the conservatives (the ones he abandoned during the election cycle per McConnell's orders).
This is from a recent article:
Cruz is an NRSC co-chair, but he had not been perceived as a major fundraising force for them this cycle, making the $250,000 more significant. The Texas senator also is fundraising with conservative outside groups that he had stopped raising funds for during the primary season, when those groups were working against Republican incumbents.
The moves come as Cruz, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, has been trying to broaden his reach and goodwill with establishment figures, while also demonstrating that he has a grassroots base that he can energize behind other candidates.

Put all this together with his high school intentions to be president of the USA, and his trajectory ever since, it is not only stunning, it’s eerie.
It’s too much for me. I see Obama’s grooming for the presidency, and Bill and Hillary with intentions for the presidency, and now Ted, who far earlier than any of these, held intentions for the presidency. It is too calculating and Hillary-esque for words.
