Robert "LaVoy" Finicum, the spokesman of the refuge occupation, was shot and killed after he charged police during a roadside stop north of Burns on Tuesday, according to a man on Facebook who claims to be the driver of one of two vehicles involved in the highway shooting.
McConnell said he noticed movement, and Finicum "took off" in the pickup with the remaining passengers. He said Payne and Cox described encountering a police roadblock about a mile north on the highway and apparently tried to get around it, becoming stuck in the snow.
"When he exited the vehicle, the rear wheels were still spinning," McConnell said. "He charged at law enforcement" and was shot.

Oh, but apparently, they did.
The girl who was sitting next to Ryan Bundy (who was shot) said they were laying on the floor of the vehicle after Ryan got shot, and the vehicle was shot from multiple directions, "120 times". Now, while I doubt that is an exact count, if you listen to her account, she sounds like someone who is rattled from the event.
I want to see the vehicle.
That's my take as well. The militia didn't go in with guns blazing, so that should have been a clue to federal agents to take the same approach to the overall situation. Their reckless disregard for human life is going to make a whole new batch of enemies out of law-abiding people who know these dissidents at a personal level and will be outraged at the Federal government's handling of them.
Does the age of a witness really discredit his/her testimony?
They were warmed up after supervising the ambush/arrest of 177 bikers in Waco, Texas, and held on 1 Million dollars bond, each on rubber stamp warrants, not counting the 9 dead and 20 wounded. FLEAs were there along with every LEO outfit in the county.
I expect this will follow the same pattern, with no video released, bloody little information put out, and no image of the targeted vehicle.
back up a second, tho. From the tape of the gal, two things stood out to me: 1) the folks were on their way to a scheduled meeting with the sheriff and local ranchers. This was relayed at the first roadblock. 2)They were roadblocked a second time in an area with no cell coverage and shooters “in the trees”. From the taped account, after shooting Finicum, who fell with hands up, multiple rounds and multiple “gas” canisters were used on the remaining occupants, in spite of the fact there was no attempt at return fire and even after being told there were women in the vehicle - who were looking for something to use as a white flag. The problem I have with all this is that if BLM wanted their man, why not wait until the group was at the scheduled meeting with the sheriff? What’s with little green men in trees? What was the original reason for the ‘traffic stop’? Was the sheriff briefed beforehand? And why weren’t the remaining occupant/witnesses given a chance to exit the vehicle safely after Fin was killed?
Bingo!
I do not like the Haney Co. Sheriff, Ward. If he invited them to go to Grant County, then I believe it was done specifically to lure them into what happened.
I have a hard time believing Grant Co. Sheriff Palmer would have invited them to try and make such a trip given the circumstances. He was sympathetic, but had also spoken out on Monday about the danger.
If he did...and if he offered them any kind of assurance...I have no doubt that in due course we would hear from him about his offer being betrayed.
I do not think that is what happened though. I would not put it pass Ward to offer them some kind of deal and then renig on it in order to draw them out. I listened to his press conference today and it made me pretty mad.
I would not have trusted or believed him.
“Screw you. I’m so with these guys, you wouldn’t believe. The FBI crap is B.S. If your take is different we have problems.”
Oh, you ignorant little child. Please learn to read, my little one. After I posted that reply to you, I read where you sent the message by accident. Then I apologized to you, though I don’t know why. Your ignorance is legendary.
Thanks for giving me a good laugh, little one. Better get to bed before mommy finds you posting on her computer.
Sure they do.

Unless they were told that (not sure by whom) to lure them into an ambush, or their plans were overheard/intercepted and the ambush set up to take advantage of that.
From what I read, the meeting was organized with the Grant Co sheriff and the Haney Co sheriff invited them. I would assume that they thought they had safe passage.
Thanks for the ping. Interesting that Sheriff Palmer, the guy who invited Bundy to the meeting, disappeared from the center, and ended up at the roadblock.
Yes. I did make a mistake though. Sherrif Palmer is the Grant Co sherrif and thought to be sympathetic. He may have had nothing to do with the ambush and left for legitimate reasons.
Okay...thanks for the explanation.
The Law Enforcement created the roadblock. It would be negligent of them not to have functional video cameras for the benefit of all.
Unless they can produce video footage that supports just cause to open fire...I will assume the worst about the gov’t agents that lay waiting for the freedom fighters.
Ward worked for the BLM and was a prosecution witness against the Hammonds.
Palmer is thought to be sympathetic.
My sincere apologies.
I’ll lay good money that you’re right.
And we all know what Freewheelin' Franklin says about that.
