My bottom line, regardless of the details, is that there was no need for a confrontation.
There was no imminent threat to life that cause these people to be stopped by obviously extremely well armed law enforcement.

But to think that after the four weeks of occupation that the Bundys were going to be allowed to simply drive all the way to John Day for other meetings was foolhardy.
By that time the feds were watching Ammon’s every move. Either through spotters, UAVs, or maybe even satellite imagery with this bunch. They knew when he was leaving and what way he was going.
The answer as to why he and his brother and those others were heading to John Day will be the telling one.
I know they are saying it was to attend a “meeting,” but I think that there is more to it than that.
Were they lured into it? were their assurances? Who arranged it? Why? etc., etc.
