You are misunderstanding my post. You are also using your own definition of Christian, and I had no intention of starting a theology back-and-forth on an open thread.
John Ellis Bush is a Roman Catholic. Our Faith has it’s own guidelines to define Christianity, and who is a Christian. Those who believe as old line Presbyterians belive are regarded as Christian, with valid Baptism and Matrimony (if with another Christian).
John Ellis Bush stated that Trump is not a Christian. I am countering that Trump may well be a Christian, based on what he says his belief system is Presbyterian.
Yes; I totally understand. I was just clarifying that different people come from different places with that particular word.
Trump definitely could be a Christian. Bottom line: Only God knows what’s in a person’s heart. Faith is very personal.
A side note: As a Christian, I’m disturbed that this debate on FR has become so focused on religion. Founding Fathers excluded a religious test for eligibility. I’d think we could honor that.
