Unless we looked at the Cruz and Trump plans side by side we might have a hard time comparing the total impact. It’s like comparing apple seeds to orange peels sometimes, it seems.
I know who I think is the heir apparent, but I still wish this tastes great, less filling argument could be put in coherent terms.
It’s pretty obvious both Trump and Cruz have changed their positions on immigration. I assume Cruz learned a hard lesson on this. I have no idea what Trump will actually do on this front.
Defiant Jeff Sessions on ‘Gang of Eight’: ‘Every Step of the Way, Ted Cruz Was on My Side’
You do realize that at this exact same point in time, Trump was tweeting in support of granting amnesty, right? And that Jeff Sessions has publicly said that Cruz was standing with him on the Rubio bill, so that means Sessions was in agreement with Cruz’s tactics here?
Nor do you have a clear idea of St. Teddy bear, Soccer Ball Cruz would do either. He changed his position too. Tit for tat.
More proof of the sell out ...Beck and Perry confirm ... Go Trump
No amnesty. Granting amnesty will ENCOURAGE illegal aliens. Anyone who supports or promotes amnesty should be arrested.
Who’s on first, I don’t know’s on second...
I can’t blame the body politic for tuning this out.
I wish some people would listen to themselves. I guess we got to give the country up to save it huh?
The moment you try silencing political dissent this way you lose the war.
We have to do things the old, right, virtuous way. And if that means going to the bother of asking God into the picture again... it does.
I went and looked carefully at his immigration plan, and sure enough, it only mentions deporting criminal illegals.
Well, that's good, but not good enough, Ted. In fact, I think it's code for, "We're going to normalize/legalize those people some way."
This article is after the gang of eight fight, so it's entirely irrelevant. But as for Sessions, I suspect Breitbart, lazy as they are, were asking him leading questions about amnesty and the pathway to citizenship, not on legalization.
Though, for that matter, no one on the Republican side at that time was opposing legalization, provided it occurred after the border was secured:
Even Rush Limbaugh was publicly for legalization and opposed deportation, claiming it was "unrealistic":
"I have never said, whatever number are here illegally, "Round 'em up and deport 'em." It isn't realistic. We have to stop the influx. So you can't pose a question to me, "Okay, Mr. Limbaugh, after we secure the borders..." the borders are key. And then we come up with a plan, I could give you two or three of them that would help legalize these people if they're willing to assimilate. We don't want a Balkanized America, and that's what this is leading to. It's just a matter of following the law"
Sessions can state that Cruz was with him "every step of the way" (except when Cruz voted down Session's amendments), and yet not save Ted Cruz from his characterization of legalization of illegal aliens as part of "common sense immigration reform".
Like I keep telling you: It's not about both of them changing position, it's about one of them lying that he never changed position.
So, we can go back to 2013 for the candidates now?
Do we start with Trump’s single payer healthcare views, or his abortion views?
Why not? Ted Cruz supporters on this website have been posting stories from 2013, 1999, 1980, 2000s, for the past two weeks bashing Trump. At least I have the decency to write "FLASHBACK" on my article, so people know it's not new.
Doing things to encourage a self-deport would help.
I like to look at the problem from unusual angles too.
Why in the world is Mexico (say) WANTING to export people? (and yes, they do... they openly print literature encouraging it). That doesn’t say a lot for Mexico. Could Trump sit down with those guys and say that as long as you keep doing this, it is the worst of both worlds for both of us? You’re killing your home morale, believe it or not, by treating your people that cheap. And you’re saddling us with an impossible welfare burden.
The GOP has lied to us over and over, and only suckers would believe a GOP, Washington Insider, now. Cruz represents the elite establishment, and they have no intention of closing borders, etc. They are open borders, Cheap Labor Express, unfair trade deals, reducing wages and lifestyle of Americans to third world levels, and establishing a North American Union.
And then start airing ads in Spanish over here asking “Aren’t you homesick?” And showing various features of Mexico like they would to tourists. And playing the Mexican national anthem. The soft sell (on top of everything else).
Get Mexicans to love Mexico again and you’ve pretty well taken care of the battle.
It’s going to take an act of God, not an act of Congress, to fix this.
