Donald Trump stepped up his attack on Ted Cruz on Monday, tweeting that the Texas senator needs to "either settle his problem" of having been born in Canada or leave the race.
"It's time for Ted Cruz to either settle his problem with the FACT that he was born in Canada and was a citizen of Canada, or get out of race," Trump tweeted Monday morning, on the heels of Fox News polls released over the weekend that showed him with double-digit leads over Cruz in both Iowa and New Hampshire.
Trump has insisted over the course of the last month that Cruz needs to tackle the issue of his eligibility because he was born in Calgary, Canada, despite Cruz's assertions that he is eligible based on the fact that his mother was born in the United States. Cruz renounced his dual Canadian citizenship in 2014, a fact that Trump has frequently pointed out as cause for concern.

No, he wasn't.
Trump fights to win, and he goes for the throat. The dude does not mess around, and I respect that in him. I am tired of wimp men. It's not Trump's job to keep Cruz's campaign viable, it's Cruz's job.
There are a couple of other assumptions you make in your post, for example Cruz being the only conservative. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. Maybe he's just good at pretending to be a conservative like almost all other members of the GOP. Ted has done some questionable things in that regard IMO.
And above is a photo of Trump's voting record. I suppose that he is running as a Republican because he is a Republican and has been for a considerable length of time as his record indicates.
Yes, it does seem that the RNC could disqualify Cruz, but that would not settle the issue of others in a situation like Cruz.
I believe the original intent of the ‘natural born citizen’ clause will carry the day when the original intent of the ‘general welfare’, ‘interstate commerce’, ‘Congress shall make no law’ and ‘shall not be infringed’ clauses are taken seriously.
We'll see. "Not naturalized" (which isn't exactly the same as NBC) doesn't lend itself to as much nuance as those other clauses, which are elastic as can be. The "naturalized" cases are numerous, and 100% in agreement on attaching "naturalized" to a person born abroad.
OTOH, the chances of a federal court deciding the issue are minuscule.
Other than when Trump went on NBC and declared he was joining the Reform Party because the Republicans were getting "too right wingy".
Wake up. The man is a fraud.
“You didn’t refer to any such situation. You referred to the courts.”

“Um, no. Not how the American judicial system works. Try again.”
You mean, an expert on the Constitution is unable, with the wave of his hand, to allay all fears about his eligibility? Releasing all necessary documentation, such as the forms that should have been filed with the United States government by his mother shortly after his birth in Canada? Describe what documentation he has used all his life when a birth certificate, or proof of citizenship, is required? I don’t understand the reluctance. I noticed during the debate he chose to laugh it off with sarcasm and inaccuracies. Never engaged a legal argument, other than “I am eligible”.
His voting record says what it says.
How is he a fraud?
Why do you think that I’m asleep?
Yeah, I hate to break it to him, but....I think a lot of people have figured him out. Unfortunately, still a lot have not. I myself just finally 'got it'. Some of us are slow.
Who’s Trump to tell Cruz (who’s argued before the Supreme Court) to do ANYTHING?
You are free to think as you please, vote as you please and support whoever you please. I don’t happen to believe Trump is a rightie. I think he’s a liberal that has changed his spots to effect the election in favor of the liberals. Even in the years he was supposedly a Republican, he donated to and supported radical leftist Democrats....even while espousing some of their leftist stances.
I hope like hell that I am wrong. Only time will tell, I suppose. God help us if I’m correct in my observation.
Citizenship is a question of both fact and law. I believe the facts are or can be established. What remains is to apply the law.
I just look at it like this.
Trump can’t possibly be any more liberal than the Republicans I have been voting for my entire life.
Where a difference definitely exists is in Trump’s love for America.
The Republican Party obviously does not love America, or it wouldn’t be aiding the effort to change it utterly.
The only thing Republicans really seem to love is getting rich.
Trump’s already rich, so he’s not worried about that.
Well, once again I may be forced to hold my nose and ignore my conscience and vote against the Democrats by voting for Trump. But if that happens, I sure as hell won’t be any happier about it than I was in 2008 with McCain as the nominee....or in 2012 with Romney as the nominee. You’d think I’d be getting used to it by now...lol.
As most of the Trump/Birthers are fond of claiming that the only source for understanding constitutional terms is English Common Law.
Blackstone, whose works, we have said, âconstituted the preeminent authority on English law for the founding generation,â Alden v. Maine, 527 U. S. 706, 715 (1999)
DC V. Heller.
to wit
“all children, born out of the king’s ligeance, whose fathers were natural-born subjects, are now natural-born subjects themselves, to all intents and purposes” Blackstone Art 1 Sec 8.
note that the United States made no such claim that only Fathers may grant citizenship (vice Subjects)
As to the supercilious notion that one may be born a citizen but not a natural born citizen please feel free to show any case or statute defining this novel 3rd class of Citizens.
ooo. thanks for reminding me, he’s just starting his show.
Look get real, Cruz is slowing bleeding out and no one is trying to stem the blood loss or even seem to anticipated this obvious vulnerable....
have no desire to seen Cruz damaged because he would be my first choice if he showed he knew how to fight and win a war...
Just be willing to fight to die, is WWI, go over the top, straight ahead into the machine guns stupid ...we are watching a case of political Darwinism here...
Some one that can't acknowledge when they're losing has no hope of winning because they have no clue which direction to go....
Again ...Thank God this is happening now instead of in the general election against Hildabitch or Comrade Colonel Bernie
And that case has only been filed - it hasn't gone anywhere and will probably be tossed for lack of standing. If it gets past that stage, THEN there might be an opportunity to request a declarative judgment. Until then, there is nothing Cruz can do.
You really are an offensive and juvenile little creature, aren't you?
“Producing just his paperwork is not enough.”
Agreed. But the average person can grasp that quick enough and things get suspicious when even that shallow move is not taken.
