That must be why my mom always called cantaloupe muskmelon.

I never knew why but his makes sense.

Or they took their name from the melons. My parents generation didn’t know wharf a cantaloupe was. Just like green peppers were called mangoes

Wait...let me check... It lists the world famous Muscatine Melon, but it looks like a watermelon to me.
