To: Alas Babylon!

This election is odd in the extreme.

Not sure what everyone thought about Trump a year or two ago.

I thought he was a pompous jerk.

It’s amazing how he’s drawn the voters. Personally I think his attraction is based on frustration and hate.

Yes, we’re horribly frustrated with Obama. He won’t fight our mortal enemy or even name them. His economic policies are a hellish nightmare and Obamacare may be the worst.

So Trump comes along and says all this ... deport them all... kill them all stuff and we fall over in a happy swoon.

There’s just too much stuff. I think he’s okay with big government... as long as he can run it the right way.

He’s definitely okay with single pay health care (but he would run it right).

He hasn’t said much about lowering taxes or revising the tax code or getting rid of the IRS or any other useless and destructive agencies.

I was attracted to him too. It was fun to hear him say all the things we’d longed to hear. And because of his fame, the media couldn’t ignore him. It felt good.

I got over him in about a month.

I’m sure you people are right and he will get the nomination. I only hope he turns out better than I think he will.

The size of government makes it impossible to run it with accountability, Trump will not tolerate incompetence it is not in his DNA there will be MANY departments with heads rolling and unions be damned!!!

Personally, I'm glad he is his own man.Not bought or paid for by someone else, self funded. His track record as a capitalist, which is good not perfect, shows that he usually picks the best of the best to be on his team. If he does that in govt. which he has already stated he will,we should have a truly great govt. I think many of his political views on many issues are yet to be formed and will be formed after getting advice from the best in each and every field.

Mostly, we are sick of being screwed over by our elected officials on both side of the aisle and are ready to try a new brand of potus. We are looking for an elected official we can actually trust and with Trump saying the things that we think he's as good a selection as we will get. I'll give trump a try any ol' time.

Aloha Altura,

Hope that the purchase of your new home is coming along well!

My leanings are based more on frustration and anger. There was a fairly good thread in the last day or so on Cold Anger.

I haven’t heard Trump say anything about a single-payer healthcare - he’s said many times that he wants people to buy over state lines to make it more affordable, have more competitors and more free-enterprise.

I’ve been employed by business enterprises (both profit and not for profit) over many years. Businesses and their employees are being asked to do more with less (this is nothing new). One of the things I do like about Trump is that he is a successful businessman. They know that you need to skim the deadweight, to cut costs and succeed. I’m hoping that’s what he will do with the Fed Gov, it has been growing and has gotten much worse under Obama. I think he’ll put people in place that know how to make the right decisions to do this. We have to get control of our spending and our government and weed out the deadweight and hopefully at least some of the libs. Our country has been going downhill fast and we need to turn it around to save it. Just my $.02.

Well, not besides stating that the US is the highest taxing nations in the world, and he wants to make it one of the lowest.
