Trumps is using the skills he acquired as a showman to run for the Presidency. So did Reagan. The difference is that Reagan not only held office but seriously studied the issues of the day he was president of his actors union. Trump has yet to make a speech as good as the one Reagan did for Goldwater in 1964. That odes not mean he cannot. But he needs to do something like that.

Yes, the beautiful “rendezvous with destiny” speech. It’s still relevant today.

Ronald Reagan rubbed shoulders with Harry Truman and Hubert Humphrey. He campaigned and gave speeches for them. He even campaigned and gave speeches for Ike. He learned how to give political speeches from those times. He became the “great communicator.” Now if you heard Ike’s speeches, they would leave you flat. Ike was a great leader. He did not need to be a great speaker because his greatness was in how he got things done. Today, we might not like Ike. President Dwight Eisenhower thought of himself as a moderate, progressive Republican. I don’t think Trump is even near that category. In fact, Trump is making a similar journey as Reagan, for the benefit of the country. Trump is a man of common sense who uses rational thought to pursue the unchanging moral principles regarded as the basis for all human conduct. Those moral principals are the basis for individual freedom. And Trump is giving better speeches and showing brilliance in his understanding of the important issues confronting our great nation. IMHO.
