That caption says Ecuador. I find that very hard to believe. There us absolutely no reason anyone from Ecuador could ever qualify for any sort of refugee status. There is nothing conflict oriented going on in that country. It’s not even terribly poverty stricken compared to other Latin countries. Its actually one of the top expat retiree choices for Americans.

You are right. We had friends that sold their house and moved to Ecuador when they retired. It didn't work out well. They were back a year later. He got caught having sex with the housekeeper that they hired. They lost so much money that they both had to go back to work when they returned. They ended up getting a divorce.

When I was still working however there was a facility that held illegal alien teenagers in our district. There were a lot of Ecuadorians there. I think because they are better off than some other countries south of the border that they have more resources to make it up here.
