Not desperate, just frustrated as ever. The most qualified and most proven conservative candidate in decade comes along, and half of Freerepublic runs to an empty celebrity, known for a reality TV show and a huge ego, who has openly endorsed highly liberal positions (just to get along in NYC, but why would you expect different in the White House?), and now openly admits that his followers would blindly support him no matter what... and they do. He is an opportunist, and about to fall into the most important office on earth, and he has no ties to any conservative cause, and has offered no reason to believe that he will do anything that we hope for, other than saying and doing what he needs to win, which he has done his entire life. My (and I think our) frustration is that the fervent Trump supporters cannot see this blind faith in nothing, even as Trump makes jokes in public about it! That’s troubling!!

“Not desperate, just frustrated as ever.”

Hey Teacher -

I can’t speak for everybody - but I can see how you would be frustrated.. I really like Ted Cruz - always have and I think that the majority of Trump people would agree.

My main thing is - I’m fairly certain that Cruz can not win the general election and at the very least it’s too much of a risk when we are staring down the barrel of Bernie or Hillary..

That said, I don’t consider myself to be a LIV and I do consider myself to be quite conservative and I’m not all that worried about Trump and am actually really enjoying the media and the GOP being completely destroyed by Trump.

Everything that is happening HAD to happen.. I would guess that you feel it too - we all worked hard to get a GOP congress - we got hosed by McCain and we kicked ourselves in the pants with Romney.. We had tidal wave victories all over the country - to what avail??

I’m just so done with all of it - and Trump is pulling back the curtains on all the naked corruption of the uniparty.. I’m going to support that win or lose -

Of note - I’ll be the 1st person on this board to eat my shoe if Trump turns out to be a wolf in sheeps clothing -

It is frustrating about Cruz. He’s terrific, maybe perfect for this hour in our history.
It’s a very imperfect world though.

I think your frustration is misdirected at Trump and his supporters and that you have made some false assumptions regarding Trump and particularly Trump’s supporters.

I think your frustration would be better directed at “the most qualified and most proven conservative candidate” (and I might add the most brilliant) ... “IN DECADES and possibly in centuries, who has yet to make his case, when in fact, he should be running away with this election!”

Without going into detail, Ted Cruz is a brilliant lawyer, a masterful Constitutionalist, debater and scholar. He is not, however, a naturally, engaging speaker. He’s personable, but he lacks the oomph and emotion that gets crowds on their feet. Trump has that skill in spades. Rubio has it, also Christie to an extent. Jeb lacks it, too, but in a different way. Jeb is a fraud and it shows.

I think Cruz knows he’s smarter than everyone, and tries too hard to be humble, whereas Trump is never humble! Voters want strong leaders! WHY do you think Trump is forever mentioning General Patton? THINK about it.

Early on I sent CRUZ money, a goodly sum of money. I was certain I would be all-in for him, but when he failed to come out swinging and after I listened to Mr. Trump, I knew Trump was going rip the MSM, the GOP-E, and break all the status-quo rules in his pursuit of trying to Make America Great Again, and thus far, he hasn’t disappointed me one iota, save to say his feuds with Cruz. (I am still hoping for a Trump/Cruz ticket).

Trump’s ego will work to America’s success, because Trump will want to go down in history as one of our greatest president’s EVER. Trump likely envisions himself on Mt. Rushmore!

I met and spoke with Mr. Trump in person. He could not have been more gracious. Soft spoken, intense, paid direct attention to just me while we spoke ... holding my one hand in the two of his. The man is real and for real. I have no doubts at all. I also “think” Senator Cruz is genuine, but I have yet to meet him.

(I was NOT surprised when Sarah Palin decided to back Mr. Trump).
